PREPARES of Central Washington

A pilot initiative launched in 2014 by the Catholic Bishops of Washington State to provide a collaborative network to support all women and families during  their pregnancy and parenting journey – from conception to the child’s fifth birthday.

How does it work?

As Catholics, we believe in the sanctity of human life.

By providing a support system throughout the parishes, we are able to show women and families a caring community that will support the many needs of a growing family.

Areas of need:

  • Pregnancy testing
  •  Intake and assessment
  • Volunteer mentors for moms and dads
  •  Parent support services
  • Support groups and classes for parents and families
  • Rapid response and referrals for urgent needs like food, formula, diapers and clothing.
  •  Adoption support and referrals.

Who needs our help?

Those we help through PREPARES may be:

  • A neighbor of yours
  • A friend’s niece or daughter
  • A family working with a collaborating program
  • Anyone, of any faith, who hears about it and walks through your parish doors

Ways to help:

  • Sponsor a parish “needs drive,” collect diapers, wipes, and formula.
  •  Donate clothing, coats, shoes, and baby items.
  • Be a mentor! Volunteer two hours a week to provide support and friendship to a mom or dad in the PREPARES program.
  • Help can be based on the many talents of the individuals and groups that support families.
