Kinship Navigator

The Kinship Navigator Program helps strengthen families by helping relatives provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment for the children in their care. The Kinship Navigation Program serves Yakima, Kittitas, Benton, Franklin, Garfield, Walla Walla, Columbia and Asotin Counties.

The Kinship Navigator Program aids kinship caregivers in understanding and navigating the system of services available for children living in their care.
Kinship Caregivers are:
Relatives who are related by birth, marriage, adoption
-          Symbolic relatives not related who have formed a strong bond or connection with the children in their care.
The Kinship Navigator provides information and referral to kinship caregivers about a range of services, resources and supports that may be available, including:

- Legal assistance regarding care of children involved
- Support for your family, to include parent education, training and support groups
- Assistance in applying for Federal and State subsidies
- Information and referral for you and your family to other community agencies
- Help with locating or maintaining child care
- Help navigating through the educational system
- Advocacy and referrals to medical, dental, and mental health services
